We mainly focus on designing and development of smart sensing and monitoring technologies by addressing major design and end-user requirements and key challenges, including the improving accuracy and reliability (due to presence of various kinds of noises and artefact sources), reducing energy consumption (limited battery power due to tiny/small and continuous remote monitoring), reducing latency or processing time (due to cloud computing and algorithm complexity), limited computing resources (due to affordability, portability/wearable leading to limited processor speed and on-board memory space), improving user privacy and security (due to cloud computing or storing/transmission of data) and incorporating contextual information fusion (due to highly correlated normal and abnormal events in most practical applications) by exploring the recent advancements in sensor, data acquisition, low-power processor, internet of things (IoT), machine learning (ML) /artificial intelligence (AI) and AR/VR technologies.
